About Us

The Joan School of Nursing mission is to graduate excellent performing nurses through quality training.

The JOAN School of Nursing is situated in Darajambili, Kisumu West Sub-County of Kisumu County on Kisumu – Busia highway.  The school was established in 2014 by a group of nurses who saw the need to have a training school in Western Region of Kenya.  They envisioned the college to be a unique training institution by nurses for nurses with support from well-wishers, county government and the national government.  Subsequently, the training curriculum was developed and approved by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) in 2013.
In the year 2014, the school started off with a skeleton staff of two lecturers, support staff and part-time lecturers.  During the year, the school of nursing officially opened its gates to the first cohort of 13 students.
The college offers a 3-year Diploma in Nursing course approved by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) and Technical Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA), but will soon offer many other courses relevant to the community and Kenya as a country.
Graduates from Joan School of Nursing have made an impact in several health care institutions in Kenya, the East and Central African region and beyond. Our students are trained in well-equipped specialized units where they gain a wealth of knowledge and skills to become competent in their area of specialty. Currently, the school has employed a team of highly qualified and very experienced lecturers who train nurses for the ever-challenging healthcare needs of the 21st century.
